Meet Suzanne Lawrimore

A Psychotherapist Who Understands Life’s Journey

Hi. I believe finding the right therapist is about more than just qualifications - it’s about connection. So, let me tell you a little about myself to help you decide if I’m the right fit for you.

I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Tennessee in 1985 and I’ve been licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina since 1992. Over the years, I’ve completed additional training including becoming an EMDR-certfied therapist through EMDRIA. I’ve been in private practice since 2001, and for the past five years, I’ve been providing telehealth services to clients, which has allows me to connect with and support adults across North Carolina from the comfort of their own homes. My career has taken me many places - from homes, hospitals, and schools to corporate training and consulting - but my focus has always been helping others find healing and growth.

While I’ve gained a lot of professional experience, my personal life has shaped me just as much. I live with my King Charles Cavalier, Murphy,  and Finn -his Cavaler best friend from next door -  spends most days with us. I’m a proud YaYa to four grandchildren and love visiting my sons and their families in Idaho and Maryland. I’m  a member of Catawba Valley Women’s Writers. I enjoy walking on the beach, hiking in the mountains, reading and writing.

Like many people, I’ve navigated major life transitions - some joyful, some deeply difficult. I've been a college student figuring things out, a military wife moving frequently, a working mom juggling too much. Later came midlife divorce and rediscovering how to live on my own, and now I find myself stepping into the surreal world  of becoming a senior. My life has had had its share of challenges, but it’s also brought me some incredible lessons that I now bring to my work with clients.

I understand what it means to rebuild, to reflect, and to grow. I bring all of that lived experience into the therapy space. My approach is warm, grounded, and shaped by real life - not just textbooks. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of your next step, I'd be honored to walk alongside you.

If you have any questions or want to see if we’re a good fit, feel free to call or text me at 828-291-6002.

I look forward to connecting with you!
